As Minnesota Attorney General from 2007 to 2019, Lori Swanson undertook actions that helped shape and define the laws in Minnesota and protect the public. The lawsuits in which she was involved ranged from landmark consumer protection lawsuits to major constitutional cases involving topics like state government budget shutdowns or the placement of sexual predators in security hospitals.
History tends to repeat itself in the law. This website is an archive of various articles about Swanson’s legal actions. The purpose of this website is to serve as a resource for public interest lawyers and advocates around the country--both in and outside the government—about various legal actions undertaken by Lori to help people. Many of Lori’s cases were brought at the district court level in state court and are not readily accessible. These archives are a roadmap for advocates on actions that may be undertaken to serve the public.
